Account & Data Deletion

Spokes is a decentralized, self-hosted communication platform. We (the developers of Spokes) do not host your server, do not have access to your account, and cannot delete your data.

How to Delete Your Account

Because your data is stored exclusively on the private server you connect to, you must contact your specific Server Administrator to request account deletion.

  1. Identify the person or organization who invited you to their Spokes server.
  2. Contact them directly and request that your account be deleted from the system.
  3. The Server Administrator will use the Admin Console to remove your user profile.

What Data is Deleted?

When a Server Administrator deletes your account from the system, the following data is permanently removed from the server:

  • Your user profile, including your name, email address, phone number, and avatar.
  • Your authentication credentials and access tokens.
  • Your personal settings, notification preferences, and block lists.

Note regarding messages: Depending on your organization's specific data retention policies, the chat messages and files you previously sent to public channels or direct messages may be retained for compliance purposes, or they may be anonymized. Please consult your Server Administrator for their specific data retention policy.

Contacting Us

If you have general questions about this policy, you can contact us at [email protected]. However, please remember that we cannot process account deletion requests on behalf of third-party server administrators.
